On Friday 29 October 2021 we had a special event for our school, the opening of the yarning circle, Ngalang miya-p ngat yanginy and the presentation of the two NAIDOC Week murals, Yarkan Yarn (Turtle Story) and Moodjar Boorn Boodja (Christmas Tree Country) with a smoking ceremony performed by Marie Taylor and Brett Collard. Thank you to all who were able to attend this event, including City of Cockburn Mayor, Logan Howlett JP and his wife, Pat.

I would like to acknowledge and thank Mr Rueben Hayden-Nelson for hand-making and donating a yarning stick for use in Ngalang miya-p ngat yanginy. This is an essential element in group yarns as the person holding it speaks while the group listens, then it is passed on to the next person who wishes to speak.
